Journalist Nuria Piera asks Injustices Not Be Committed in Search of Her Sources

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (defend.ht/Nuria Piera) - For the investigation made on bank accounts and payments made by the senator from the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Felix Bautista, Nuria Investigates received reports of people concerned because intelligence services of the State raided homes and businesses in search of material that served to support the work of the journalist.

The journalist, Nuria Piera, has expressed concern that there not be any injustice or imprisonment against citizens who have nothing to do with the case. She also said it is important not to create anxiety in some families being investigated by the authorities to identify the person who provided the reports and account numbers of companies linked to Senator Felix Bautista.

She added that if the information presented on the television program, according to those involved, is not valid, she does not understand why there are investigations in search of the source.

The investigative journalism program, Nuria Investigates, presented on Saturday March 31 a report called "The Road of the Millions", which Piera said she possessed a dozen pages of bank statements, pay ratios, charts, transactions, agendas and real estate listings of companies linked to the senator from San Juan de la Maguana, Felix Bautista, who is being investigated for alleged corruption.
