PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - The Grenadiers were caught cold by a team from Curacao who scored two in the first half. One as early as the 7th minute of play and another 7 minutes later in the 14th.
Hope did not befall the Haitian National Team until the 26th minute, an open drive to the Curacaon goal for Charles Herold Jr from Jean Eudes Maurice was disrupted by a foul and provided a penalty kick for the home team. Jean Eudes Maurice would score on the penalty.
The Sylvio Cator Stadium came alive and would continue to a climax when in the 60th minute a 35 yard penalty kick was head bunted in by James Pierre.
The match ultimately ended in a tie and amid controversy that the officials did not allow sufficient extra time for the match to play out. The Haitian team lost its lead in Group F of the World Cup Qualifiers by CONCACAF. It is ranked in second place to Antigua, a team it will face on November 11.
