Martelly: "A presidência não tem nada a ver com o que aconteceu ..."

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - O presidente Michel Martelly nega qualquer envolvimento da Presidência da República no 27 de prisão do membro Arnel Bélizaire (Delmas & Tabarre / Veye-Yo), que abriu uma crise política e jurídica em outubro Haiti.

"From near and far, the presidency has nothing to do with what happened," he argued at a press conference at the airport shortly after landing his plane.

Martelly cut short his trip to the United States where he had surgery on his shoulder.

The arrest of Arnel Bélizaire was conducted without his parliamentary immunity being waived, which has outraged both houses of parliament and several sectors of society.

The Head of State, pointed to by the parliamentarians, who accuse him, among other things, marinating a new dictatorship, reacted for the first time since the event.

Michel Martelly is placed in the center of the case since he had an altercation with Belizaire, and promised then to track down the "habitual criminals hiding in Parliament."

In defending himself from any involvement in the arrest of Arnel Bélizaire, Michel Martelly imitates his justice minister, Joshua Pierre Louis, who had also denied having given orders to arrest the MP.

Either way Joshua Pierre Louis and several members of the government are on the blacklist of Parliament, which promises to eject all those who have responsibility in the matter.

The Director of Public Prosecutions, Félix Léger, who made the accusations and is the leading authorities seized Bélizaire October 27, would have even been asked to resign.

For his part, Michel Martelly called everyone to "stay cool" and to analyze why this happened. He announced that he asked his Prime Minister Garry Conille to establish an independent commission of inquiry charged with shedding light on the issue.
