PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - Former President-for-Life, Jean-Claude 'Baby Doc' Duvalier appeared before justice on Thursday in a hearing to determine whether a trial on human rights abuses, murders and kidnappings should proceed against the 61 year old. Duvalier did not necessarily deny the claims brought against him and used the tribunal to revision a Haiti that was better under his and his father's regime, 1957-1986.

Haiti: Duvalier failed to appear in court

Much to the dismay of justices and local and foreign journalists, Duvalier argued, via letter, the reasons for his absence.
