Martellys and Super Model Open Free School

CROIX-DES-BOUQUETS, Haiti - Approximately 48 hours after his inauguration, the new Head of State, Michel Joseph Martelly, accompanied by the First Lady and two of his advisers Laurent Lamothe and Michèle Oriol, attended, Monday, the opening of the new Zoranje school in the Village Renaissance Orangers model project in the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets.

Funded by Mr. Jonathan Jackson, this project is the work of the US Happy Hearts Foundation (HHF) , which was founded in 2005 and whose mission is to improve the lives of children through sustainable educational programs.

The initiator of the project, Mr. Daniel Kedar, held especially to welcome the presence of the Head of State in this ceremony on its first day of work. An attitude which, according to Mr. Kedar, reflects the commitment of President Martelly to make education one of the main axes of its quinquennium. Stating that this school is completely free from kindergarten to grade 5, Mr. Kedar welcomes the project to join the aspirations ever expressed by the Head of State to provide free education to the population.

For her part, the Co-founder and Chair of the non-governmental organization, HHF, the Czech supermodel Petra Nemcova , has expressed willingness to expand this initiative in other regions of the country. She took the opportunity to announce that this new school, freshly inaugurated will be delivered to the State.

"Since my arrival in the country, for the first time, I have seen the joy in the eyes of people and it is through you Mr. President.", said Ms. Nemcova stressing the opportunity that this kindergarten will offer these children for the future.

The President of the Republic, on his side, showed his admiration to the ingenuity of the project and thanked those who contributed to its realization. Welcoming, in addition, to be able to take part personally in the event, Mr. Martelly believes that there is a dream that can lead to reality.

"When the children are neglected, it is the future of the country which is neglected. To take control of these children, is to take in hand the future of the country," noted the Head of State who recalls that compulsory and free education remains a priority. He promises to build on this experience by duplicating it at the national level for the benefit of the children of Haiti.

Thanking the NGOs and foundations for their support, President Martelly promises that the State will assume its responsibilities during the transition to the drawbars of public affairs.
