Haiti: Presidency and 'Cité Soleil All Stars' hold Exhibition Soccer Match

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - In the northern district of Cite Soleil, President Michel Martelly and Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe participated in a game of soccer for unity that the Head of State says will "promote solidarity through sport in the town."
Monday, September 3, 2012: The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Michel Joseph Martelly, visited Cité Soleil, Sunday, Sept. 2, for an exhibition match in the curtain-raising grand finale of the second edition of the championship holiday called "Championship Unity", sponsored by Senator John Joel Joseph (Ouest/Inite) for the benefit of the inhabitants of the area.
Accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. Sophia Martelly, his Chief of Staff, Ms. Valerie Ann Timothée Milford, some members of the Cabinet, the Director General of the PNH, Mr. Godson Orelus and the Departmental Delegate, Mr. Gonzague Day the Head of State, through this gesture, wanted to promote solidarity through sport in this town.
"I think it was the best time to assess the state of the park of the sports center in Cité Soleil. I walked the field to play this game, there is plenty to do for the center. I will ask the Ministry of Sports to address this issue," said the President Martelly.
Led by the President of the Republic as captain, the Team Presidency's superb encounter ended with a score of 1 goal all. The first goal was scored in the 10th minute of play by "Cité Soleil All Stars" by Pierre Lemaine and Team Presidency found its equalizer in stoppage time action by the masterful Johnny Descollines.
