Haiti President Martelly's Visit to the South East Department

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht/P) - President Michel Martelly traveled to the South East department on Monday where it was announced that a local road between Peredo and Belle-Anse would be repaved. While in the department the Head of State distributed 10,000 food kits to the population.

Tuesday, July 3, 2012: President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Michel Joseph Martelly, began on Monday 2 July, a tour of the department of South-East which led successively in the communities of Baie d'Orange, Mare Briole, Calumette and the town of Belle-Anse.

Accompanied by former Sen. Joseph Lambert and Senators Wenceslas Lambert and Edwin Zenny, the Head of State wished to assess for himself the living conditions of people and see the real state of road infrastructure in this department.

In different localities where he stopped, President Martelly received a very warm welcome from the people who came in crowds to applaud him and bring their claims, the main one being the construction of the road from Peredo in Belle-Anse.

During this tour, the President of the Republic made the distribution of ten thousand (10,000) food kits, as a sign of encouragement to the livestock sector, he symbolically handed over a hundred goats to various community associations in the Municipality of Belle-Anse.

In the town of Belle-Anse, the chief town of this district is isolated due to the lack of road infrastructure, where he was welcomed by members of the municipal cartel and municipal districts surrounding the area gave claims that were more numerous but, as has been able to see the Head of State, still had as background the construction of the road.

The construction of a hospital and a school and the modernization of the fisheries sector, the mainstay of the economy of the region, are also priorities for Bellansois.

The head of state, who refuses to make empty promises, however, promised to intercede with the Minister of Public Works so that enough is done to improve the condition of the road while waiting to find the funds to the construction of this highway whose course has existed for decades.

As was so clearly expressed by President Martelly, the beauty and the wealth of the borough of Belle-Anse is useless if they do not benefit the population. The development of this area of ​​the country must go with its opening up and development of its agricultural resources and tourism.

The President of the Republic also asked various elected officials of the south to be united in their desire to bring real change in their department for the betterment of their people.

The Head of State promised to continue to commit to a more just state, stronger, able to lead the country on ways of sustainable development and improve living conditions for all Haitians without exclusion.
