Haiti President Travels to 33rd Caricom Heads Conference, St. Lucia

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - Monday, July 2, 2012. The President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Michel Joseph Martelly, left the country, Tuesday, July 3, 2012, bound for Gros Islet, St. Lucia, where he will officially participate in the 33rd Conference of Heads of State and Government of CARICOM from July 4 to 6.
Haiti sits on the Bureau of the Conference from 1 July 2012 to become familiar with many issues and questions addressed the Bureau.
On 1 January 2013, the President of the Republic's will obtain the presidency of the Conference until June 30, 2013.
During his stay, the Head of State, who heads a large delegation will hold talks with several counterparts in the region.
The President of the Republic reiterates his commitment to defend the interests of Haiti everywhere. Improve the living conditions of the Haitian people during his tenure is and remains its priority.
