Martelly: "We must respect the presidency..."

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht/hpnhaiti.com) - "You have not seen anything yet, this president is going to be cynical," said President Michel Martelly Saturday during a press conference after returning from a Latin American summit in the Dominican Republic.

"We must respect the presidency" launched President Martelly on a firm tone which expressed its determination to enforce his office during his mandate.

"Whoever comes to the palace and starts abusing the presidency may not be able to leave the palace, even if the person had immunity," stated President Martelly. Commenting on the incident that had occurred during an exchange with members of parliament at a meeting last Wednesday, in which insults had been provided by the Head of State who said he was "ready to repeat what he had done."

"Those who speak loudest are often people who have taken refuge in parliament, were ex-convicts and escaped from prison," said President Martelly accusing the former government and former electoral council to have propelled these people that he has not mentioned by name, in the Parliament.

He also criticized the disorder in traffic and denounced the corruption that still exists within the public administration. Of justice that works at two speeds, people steal land. The things he proposes to change.

"You think this president is firm, you have not seen anything yet because it is time that people start thinking about the country," insisted the president Martelly.

"The misfortune can happen to you if you are not right and if you get in my way," said Mr. Martelly.
