Michel Martelly to Make First Speech to United Nations

NEW YORK, USA (defend.ht) - President Michel Martelly will make his first speech before the United Nations on Friday, as part of the 66th session of the General Assembly in New York.
The president left the country on Sunday September 18 has spent time meeting with diplomats, representatives of donor countries and institutions, the Haitian Diaspora and members of the American press.
The mandate of the UN Mission for Stabilization in Haiti (MINUSTAH) and the promised aid to rebuild the country, trade and investments are expected to be at the heart of his discourse.
This week, the Head of State convened the first meeting of the Presidential Advisory Council for Economic Development and Investment, council launched on 8 September, chaired by former U.S. President Bill Clinton and the Haitian businessman, Laurent Lamothe.
The Haitian delegation present in New York has nearly thirty people, including the president's advisers, his wife and his eldest son.
