Haiti: Senator Moïse Upset Ministers Were Not Convened by the Senate

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) – The Senator of the North, Jean-Charles Moïse was upset that the Office of the Senate did not take the necessary steps to convene nearly a dozen minister for hearings on mismanagement.
Senator Moïse said he did not call the hearings to destabilize the government but to show the nation that money from the PetroCaribe funds were being mismanaged.
Comparing former President Rene Preval’s use of the funds to President Michel Martelly’s, Senator Moïse named projects such as the building of the airport in Cap-Haitien, the purchase of construction equipment for the CNE, and throughout the country.
For the senator, the fact that the programs of the Martelly government, social programs such as “Aba Grangou”, “Ti Maman Cherie”, “Katye’m Poze” and the Carnival in Aux Cayes, are being managed by the First Lady and friends close to the president, the money is being mismanaged and even laundered.
Senator Moïse said the President of the Senate has the obligation of convening the ministers so they can give explanations for these programs. As of Tuesday, no date has been set for any ministers to appear before senators.
