Haiti: Ten Ministers to be Convened for Mismanagement

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - Senator Jean-Charles Moïse (Nord/Inite) has found his way to convene ten ministers of the executive government for a series of hearings scheduled from June 18 to July 9.
Senator Moïse is spearheading the convocations with Senators Westner Polycarpe (Nord/Alternative) and Jean-Baptiste Bien-Aime (Nord-Est/Inite).
The ministers to be heard will appear before different committees to answer different questions pertaining to issues of mismanagement previously declared by the Senator of the North, Moïse.
"Each minister is summoned for a very specific reason, but related to the divergences of the administration of Martelly and Lamothe," Moïse told reporters.
"The Senate regulations give us the right to call any member of the government on a matter of public interest. We have already submitted the letter of invitations to the President of the Great Body, Simon Dieuseul Desras (Centre/Lavni), for appropriate action," continued Moïse.
June 18
Prime Minister Laurent Salvador Lamothe and Minister of Defense Jean Rodolphe Joazile are to be convened on the issue of former soldiers who fled with weapons still in their possession.
Minister of Justice Jean Renel Sanon will be heard on the matter of Presidential Adviser Calixte Valentin who is said to have been involved in the murder of a citizen, Octanol Derissaint on April 18. Sanon will also answer questions on the actions of Ronald "Roro" Nelson who is implicated on several acts of aggression including the killing of a young man at his home by his security in May.
June 21
The Minister of the Economy and Finance, Marie Carmelle Jean-Marie will be questioned on the management of the National Fund for Education, a tax placed by the executive outside of legal procedures and the management of the PetroCaribe funds, loans from Venezuela.
June 25
The Minister of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Thomas Jacques, to report on the distribution of fertilizer in the Artibonite Valley that has been the topic of controversy.
June 28
The Minister of Public Works, Transportation, Energy and Communications, Jacques Rousseau, will give explanations on the block of projects that were initiated during the previous administration of Preval-Bellerive.
July 2
The Minister of Tourism Stephanie Balmir Villedouin will be asked to convice parliamentarians on the viability of the project to invest $40 million in Jacmel in the field of tourism.
July 5
The Minister of Education and Professional Training, Reginal Paul, will be convocated on the program of free education of the presidency that is lacking transparency.
July 9
Minister Wilson Laleau of Trade and Idustray and Minister Florence Duperval Guillaume of Public Health and the Population will be asked about the flow of ethanol on the market in the guise of rum. Several people have already died for consuming the product.
