Senate President Urges Publication of Haitian Constitution

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - The Senate President Simon Desras pleaded on Thursday for the publication of the Constitution of Haiti amended and ratified May 2011.

President Martelly had hinted recently that he would publish the Constitution against the advice of his advisers.

According to Senator Desras, President of the National Assembly, "the publication of the amendment reconfirms sovereignty of free and independent state and would ensure conquests."

Enumerating the benefits of a publication, the parliamentarian believes that this amendment would integrate the Diaspora in the reconstruction of the country and give him the right to vote and the establishment of the Constitutional Council and the Permanent Electoral Council and implementation road of a national army.

Since independence has had 22 constitutions Haiti.
