Senate Approves New Ambassadors to U.S, Canada and Venezuela

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - On Wednesday, the Senate of the Republic ratified the choice of new Ambassadors who will be accredited to three of the major partners of Haiti, the United States, the Canada and the Venezuela. After analysis of their records, the Assembly approved the nomination of Paul Altidor, Frantz Liautaud and Lesly David respectively in Washington, Ottawa and Caracas.
Present to Parliament, Mr. Liautaud, former chairman of the Chamber of Commerce Haitian-Canadian, welcomed the decision of President Michel Martelly to entrust the job of ambassador and its approval by the Upper House.
Expressing his readiness to embody the concept of business diplomacy dear to the current regime, the new head of the diplomatic mission of Haiti in Canada announces plans to present his credentials quickly to get to work.
The main objective that has set the diplomat in Haiti is to attract potential Canadian investors.
In addition to the three ambassadors, at the same session, senators have confirmed the appointment of three consuls general, Charles Antoine Forbin New York, Guillaume François in Miami and Justin Viard in Montreal.
These are the first major changes in Haitian diplomacy since the accession to power 10 months ago, of the former singer Michel Martelly.
