Haiti: Senator Simon Dieusel Desras Elected President of the Senate

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - Senator Simon Dieusel Desras (Centre/Lavni) was elected President of the Senate and President of the National Assembly on Tuesday.
The second senator from Central Department received twenty yeas and nine nays in the election against Senator François Anick Joseph (Artibonite/AAA).
Desras is in control of the Senate until early 2013. Senator Andris Riche (Grande Anse/Alternative) is the vice president of the senate, and three other officers, namely Fritz Carlos Lebon (Sud/Inite) is Quaestor, Steven Benoit (Ouest/Alternative) is the first secretary and John Joel Joseph (Ouest/Inite) is the second secretary.
Steven Benoit and John Joel Joseph are the only novice in the office of the Senate. Andris Riche was vice president's office during his first term as senator. Fritz Carlos Lebon has also been quaestor.
