PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - A senatorial commission has been set up to inquire into the publication in "Le Monitor" of erroneous “text” in the constitutional amendments reported by the Executive.
A special Senate commission of inquiry was formed Tuesday to shed light on the errors that led to the cancellation of the amendments of the constitution of 1987. Senators Moïse Jean Charles and Joseph Lambert, as well as their colleagues Edmonde Supplice Beauzile and Andrice Riché are members of this commission, who set up a meeting on camera.
Senator Jean Charles revealed that the President of the Senate, Rodolphe Joazile, has retracted with regard to the involvement of Senator Jocelerme Privert in the folder.
Senator Privert denied handling document arguing he was not present at the recent corrections. He argues that the error could have resulted from confusion in the various versions of the amended document available to the Office of the President of the great body.
According to the former Minister of the Interior, the amendments published in the official journal best reflected the vote of the National Assembly. He noted that text considered as erroneous articles had not been changed by a vote of the Assembly after the cancellation of the articles related to the harmonization of mandates.
The error in the document comes from the Senate for Senator Jean Charles. We cannot know whether manipulation or physical errors he said ensuring that the commission will begin its work in the best time.
For his part, Senator Steven Benoit feels that it is necessary to disclose the names of the members of Parliament involved in the manipulation of the text of the constitutional amendment.
The first senator from the West had promised to make public the identity of the culprits no later than Wednesday.
Steven Benoit believes that people can draw their own conclusions after the interviews on Radio Vision 2000 of the Senate President, Jean Rodolphe Joazile and Senator Jocelerme Privert around the issue.
