PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - Judge Bernard Saint-Vil has sent a summons to Deputy Arnel Bélizaire (Delmas & Tabarre/Veye-Yo) to appear before the courts and answer questions on a number of charges and irregularities.
Judge Saint-Vil's summons is based on the charges of evasion of justice, forgery, criminal conspiracy and criminal association. The judge has set the court date for November 8.
Deputy Bélizaire has been arrested in the past on charges of fraud, illegal possession of firearms and is believed to have escaped from the National Penitentiary on January 12.
Bélizaire has been the center of a political crisis in Haiti since being arrested at the Toussaint L'Ouverture International Airport last Thursday while still under parliamentary immunity.
