Haiti: PM Makes Surprise Visit to Police Station in Port-au-Prince

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe and the President of the Senate Simon Desras made a surprise visit to the police department in Port-au-Prince in the late hours of Wednesday July 18. The government officials found the work of the police to be satisfactory in protecting lives and property of the population.

Thursday, July 19, 2012: Prime Minister, Laurent Salvador Lamothe, conducted late in the evening of Wednesday, July 18, a surprise visit to the police station in Port-au-Prince. Accompanied by the President of the Senate, Simon Dieuseul Desras (Centre/Lavni), the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, René Jean Roosevelt, the Secretary General of the Prime Minister, Michel Brunache, and some members of the press, the Head of the Supreme Council of National Police (CSPN) wanted to personally inquire of the working conditions of police officers.

His Excellency Mr. Laurent Salvador Lamothe did not hide his satisfaction that the dedication and commitment of young police officers working hard to ensure the safety of lives and property of the entire population.

The Prime Minister also took the night tour to visit some roads being repaired in the capital as part of "Operasyon Bouche Twou", including that of paved streets. HE Mr. Laurent Lamothe had a question/answer meeting with officials on the progress of the project. In this regard, the Prime Minister is convinced that the consolidation program that includes the manual cleaning of sewers and construction of urban facilities helps to create jobs in the short to medium term so that people can participate actively in the development of the country.

The Head of the Prime Ministry calls for each state official to fully assume his responsibilities to provide quality public services to the people who expected an improvement in living conditions and encourages them to redouble their energy to take a effective charge of rebuilding the country.
