Government Officials Make Contact with Haitian-French Community in Paris

PARIS, France (defend.ht) – The Haitian Minister of Foreign Affairs concluded the first phase at the head of a delegation of government officials in Paris, France. Over the weekend, contact with the Haitian-French community was the focus.
In a communication sent from the Ministry of Foreign and Religious Affairs to DH, the interactions with the Haitian community in France was a priority for Minister Laurent Lamothe who put those engagements ahead of bilateral discussions that will begin on Monday with French authorities.
On Saturday, Minister Lamothe and the Minister of Planning and External Cooperation, Herve Day, met with the Association of Haitian Taxi Drivers in Paris (AHTP).
Sunday, the delegation was at the International Academy of Diplomacy in Paris, where students of Haitian descent presented grievances to the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Wilson Laleau, Minister of Tourism, Stephanie Villedrouin and parliamentarians who joined the delegation.
Also on Sunday, the Saint Georges Church in Paris received Minister Lamothe where he reiterated the programs supported by international banks and non-governmental organizations to assist 100,000 Haitian mothers, relocate 30,000 internally displaced persons and subsidize a portion of the education of 903,000 children.
Official meetings in Paris are to begin Monday with the French Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Alain Juppé. Lamothe looks to bring French companies into the nation of Haiti with the new policy of Business Diplomacy that his ministry and the government of Haiti have adopted.
