Minister of Foreign Affairs Lamothe Receives Diplomatic Corps

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - Tuesday, November 8, 2011. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs, His Excellency Laurent Lamothe, received at his residence members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of international organizations accredited Haiti and Honorary Consuls.

In his speech for the occasion, the Chancellor, Lamothe, thanked the international community for its unwavering support to the advancement of democracy in Haiti. He welcomed the willingness of partners to contribute to improving the lives of the Haitian population. Minister Lamothe has also called for the strengthening of budgetary support to the Government despite the fact that over 60% of aid goes through NGOs.

The Chancellor has announced his new vision of diplomacy to serve as a springboard to increased foreign investment in Haiti. He asked all the diplomats present to encourage their countrymen to visit Haiti and to invest. He also asked them to plan mission between different Chambers of Commerce in order to mirror the opportunities the country.

For his part, the Apostolic Nuncio, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, thanked and confirmed once again the willingness of the international community to work with the current Government to provide the people of Haiti a better tomorrow.
