PM Garry Conille Unprepared for Parliamentary Hearing on New Army

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - The Prime Minister of the Republic, Garry Conille will not appear before the Haitian parliament Thursday, Oct. 27 with the Minister of the Interior, Thierry Mayard-Paul, to be heard on the remobilization of the Armed Forces of Haiti (FAdH).

According to Signal FM, Prime Minister Conille has requested the postponement of the senate hearing for eight days.

"No I will not go to Parliament, I asked a report in eight days of the meeting with the senators because we have received the invitation very late."

Parliamentarians and civil society organizations are questioning the readiness with which the President is considering the establishment of an armed force.

Some believe that an army is far from the priority of the moment. Others do not see where the government will find the funds for the establishment of this force.

In addition, more than one of which, Senator Moise Jean-Charles (Nord/Inite) denounces militia training camps that are serving the president.
