PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - If there were doubts about the chances of Daniel Gerard Rouzier find the approval of Parliament to head the next government, they were dispelled following a meeting that has made all the difference, one that took place on Monday night in the private residence of former President Rene Preval.
According to reliable sources, at this important meeting between President Preval and members of the party insiders, the former tenant of the National Palace has formally asked the majority group in parliament to make no requirement on the president, Joseph Michel Martelly and Prime Minister-designate Daniel Rouzier, for obtaining ministerial posts in the next government.
Mr. Préval, the main instigator of the creation of this political structure, called on his party's parliamentarians and members of the Parliamentary Group of the Renewal (GPR), the majority bloc, to give a vote in favor Rouzier, in order to allow President Martelly have a free hand so he can deliver the change promised to the people.
At this meeting, which began at 6 o'clock PM and will end shortly before midnight, the former head of state and members of his group decided to form a commission of 7 members to meet the president on Martelly decision of the majority to ratify Daniel Rouzier, without requiring ministerial posts, but not excluding any possibility for relatives of GPR, to occupy positions of responsibility if this is the will of the President of the Republic. Therefore, the granting of ministerial portfolios and other positions of responsibility is now left to the discretion of the President Martelly and Prime Minister Rouzier.
The commission, chaired by Senator Joseph Lambert, is composed among others, Senator Francky Exius, deputies Levaillant Louis-Jeune and Alexis Tolbert. Two other deputies and a member of the coordination of the INIT complete list of members of the GPR designated to meet the head of state and prime minister designate, on the issue of ratification of the new government team. The presidents of the Chamber of Deputies and Senate, respectively Sorel Joazile Jacinta and Rudolph, both the Initiate, attend the Committee at this meeting with the Head of State and the implementation of the new position adopted by the majority group.
The coordinator of the insider and group GPR Grand Corps, Senator Joseph Lambert, confirmed this information during an operation on Tuesday, micro Gary Pierre-Paul Charles Scoop on FM. According to Lambert, the insider and the GPR will not be blocking elements. He said the platform initiated and the president Martelly pursue common goals and intend to work together to meet the expectations of the population.
"As the president Martelly, we campaigned on free education, and we campaigned on decentralization ... today, the GPR has a single desire: to ensure that people leave the tents, assisting and accompanying the Executive, giving it the legal instruments and financial means, through legislation, to enable him to lift people out of camps, "said Senator Lambert, who also promises the support of his group for help to materialize in a given time, the Chairman's draft Martelly send all Haitian children to school for free.
The coordinator of INIT, who said he had not known before Daniel Rouzier, have read of his achievements and successes. Joseph Lambert believes that the chances of success Rouzier are now very high.
"One fact is certain is that the chances of being approved Mr. Rouzier are increasingly high, from yesterday's meeting tonight," assured the influential Senator Lambert, announcing that the commission 7 members will have meetings with the Head of State and Prime Minister designate to agree on a plan to rescue the country's socio-economic stagnation in which it is located and to build a team up to the challenges facing the nation.
Many voices within the GPR, amounted in recent days to demand important cabinet posts as part of a shared responsibility with the new Executive. Senator North, Moses Jean-Charles, said that the GPR had demanded ministerial portfolios in exchange for a favorable vote on the record of ratification of the Prime Minister designate. To believe the statements of Joseph Lambert, this position has now passed.
However, some reservations remain at some uninitiated members of the GPR. However, even without the support of members of the GPR, which are not part of the insider (the number of twenty), Daniel Rouzier still maintains its chances of being ratified, as members of those groups and INIT minority, already in favor of ratification of the Prime Minister designate, are enough to entrust the keys to the Prime Minister.
After the electoral disaster and political storms, can we expect a lull and a clarification of whether the socio-political horizon necessary for the reconstruction of the national fabric? Some dare to believe, while others think it is too good to be true!
