Haiti: Seeking a Life, Destroying a Life

Video contains disturbing images. Discretion is advised.

A young man's body lies in front of the gates of the National Palace where he, and many others, search for work earning 10HTG ($0.24[US]) for the day to buy food

The demolition project at the National Palace being carried out by Sean Penn's non-governmental organization J/P HRO means a caravan of dump trucks carrying rubble leaves the palace grounds throughout the day.

Unemployed young men in the streets board these trucks that do not stop and wait. The ride them to a site where they earn less than 25 cents U.S. for a days work of labor breaking rocks. This pays for a meal for the day.

But this search for a life meant the end of the life for "Ti Roger" on October 11 2012, whose fatal end appears in this Le Nouvelliste video.

His body was dropped off at the National Palace by persons who were with him when he died. According to a witness he slipped of a dump truck and was ran over by one that followed.
