MIAMI, USA (defend.ht) - Francois Guillaume II was recently named Haiti's Consul General in Miami. Mr. Guillaume promised to improve communication and transparency between the Haitian government and members of Haiti's diaspora and potential international investors.
In a news conference Monday for Haitian-American media, the new representative of Haitian government in Miami said his priorities include promoting investment opportunities and tourism in the Caribbean country, reports AP.
Guillaume said the small consulate at the edge of Miami's downtown would be renovated and a satellite office would be opened in West Palm Beach to accommodate South Florida's large Haitian community.
He also said he would work with local leaders to improve services for the elderly and at-risk youth in the Haitian-American community.
