Radio Kiskeya Loses a Collaborator, Edmond Rosemond

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - Radio Kiskeya learned with great sorrow and with deep emotions the death of their colleague Edmond Rosemond, 43, who died Thursday in La Gonave (Ouest), the island he was from.

Ill since late last year, Rosemond never recovered his health and passed away at the Wesleyan Anse-à-rollers Hospital, where he was admitted last Tuesday.

In an article on Radio Kiskeya, it was said that it was ironic that the term destiny was on the second anniversary of the tragedy of 2010.

On January 12, 2011, for the first anniversary of the earthquake that have 250,000 dead, Rosemond Edmond performed, in writing, his professional duty and civic obligations by reporting to the listeners of various commemorative events of the day.

Jean-Louis Richard Charles was there, too, that day, before being murdered on February 9 in the streets teeming with people, shortly after noon.

So, curiously, the two employees will be gone in less than twelve months, one hit by the hands of criminals and the other carried by the disease.

On a rare humility, affable man, very religious, cooperative, Rosemond that his colleagues called him very affectionately "T Rose" was part of the team since Kiskeya sometimes eight. He joined the newsroom in 2004 after working for Radio Tropic FM.

In recent years, our reporter assured his accomplice Jean-Baptiste Dazouloute with parliamentary news coverage.

In addition, he was recently elected to the board of the association of journalists accredited to Parliament.

Previously, he was accredited for covering the Stabilization Mission of the UN (MINUSTAH) and the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP).

Honesty and wisdom of Rosemond basically lived in the fact that he recognized his limitations and was therefore receptive to criticism in order to achieve greater professional maturity.

The management and staff of Radio Kiskeya extended their heartfelt condolences to the parents of the deceased, his widow, Velis, Jordany his son, two daughters, Rosamond, 10, and Rose-Velin, 9, as well as 'to all the friends and allies plunged into desolation.

The funeral is planned Sunday in La Gonave.
