PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI (defend.ht) - A new structure called "Coordination Unit for Reconstruction (UCR)" was set up by Haitian government to facilitate the reconstruction of public administrative buildings destroyed by the earthquake of January 12, 2010.
A launching ceremony was held on November 25 at Prime Minister Office with President Michel Martelly and PM Garry Conille, delegates from major international donors and government ministers.
This unit aims to reconcile the two plans for the reconstruction of the Haitian capital and ensure the reconstruction of public administration buildings, informs Israel Jacky Cantave, communications manager at the office of Prime Minister of Haiti, quoted by AlterPresse.
"The unit is currently recruiting members right now. At the moment there is no defined project ... Nothing is decided yet, "said Jacky Cantave.
Nearly two years after the earthquake of January 2010 some offices of the state still operate in tents or temporary buildings, such as Department of Justice and Parliament.
