Haitian-Dominican Students, One Killed, Another Wounded in University Shooting in Santo Domingo

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (defend.ht) - A Haitian national was killed Monday on the campus of the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo, while a young student of Haitian origin was injured, reports the Dominican newspaper, Listin Diario.
The Haitian called Geffrard, 48, was shot twice and the student Bianca Duran had she received a shot in the shoulder, we read on the Dominican newspaper's website Listin Diario.
Two gunmen were behind the tragedy whose causes have not been identified, according to initial reports.
Academic officials have indicated that the so-called Geffrard would have no connection to the university.
Both victims were quickly transported to the hospital where Geffrard died from his injuries, the source said.
