Peintures Caraïbes, First Haitian Enterprise in Caracol Industrial Park

CARACOL, Haiti (defend.ht) - Peintures Caraibes, or Caribbean Paint, signed on Tuesday, with the Haitian government an agreement to set up a second production plant at the industrial park of Caracol. This plant is expected to bring 170 jobs to the area in its first year, and 300 more in its second.

The paint products manufacturer is now the second company to locate to the industrial park of Caracol, the largest park in the Caribbean, after the initial investor of the property Sae-A (Korea).

From construction of buildings to house painting products, Caribbean Paints will assume an area of 5 hectares at Caracol, and will begin its activities in August, the beginning of the fiscal year 2012-2013.

In an interview with Caribbean Paint CEO, Pierre-Yves Gardere, Le Nouvelliste was also at the sidelines of the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Center for the Facilitation of Investments and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Employment of the North, July 12, 2012.

Caribbean Paints intends to develop this unit in the department of Northeast, to diversify its product range and create nearly 170 new direct jobs by the end of his first year of operation and 300 jobs during the second year.

"It is an honor for us to be the first Haitian firm in the park of Caracol, but it is also a duty of responsibility," said Pierre-Yves Gardere. "We can not have confidence in our country if we do not invest ourselves in its economy. It is this example Caribbean Paints wants to paint."

A Member of the Association of Industries of Haiti (ADIH), Caribbean Paints projects, from the next 6 months, to address the regional market. "But our ultimate goal remains the international market," said Dr. Gardere, highlighting the benefits of the park of Caracol infrastructure.

Sponsored by the Haitian government, the United States and the Inter American Development Bank, the proposed construction of the park of Caracol means, in effect, spend a land of 250 hectares in area with comprehensive services for industry with light manufacturing, among others, a power plant with a sufficient reserve capacity to ensure a continuous supply at competitive rates, water in quantity and quality; a road linking the port and the nearby towns of Haiti to the Dominican Republic, a modern telecommunications infrastructure and modern port facilities that meet the International Code for the Security of Ships and Port Facility Security (ISPS) and allow to easily reach the United States in three or four days.
