Haiti: Digicel Haiti Appoints New CEO

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - Digicel, Haiti's largest telecommunications company, replaced CEO Maarten Boute on Wednesday so that he may spend more time with his family according to company spokeswoman, Antonia Graham.

Haiti's largest tax payer has brought in Damian Blackburn to be the new CEO in Haiti. Maarten Boute leaves the post after 3 years.

Blackburn, recently CEO for Digicel Honduras, has more than 14 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. He will oversee operations for the company's largest market, Haiti, which accounts for about a quarter of its 11.1 million subscribers.

On January 5th, Haiti's second largest carrier Voila, also saw its CEO, Robin Padberg resign.
