Google Launches Cloud Services for Haitian Agricultural Industry

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - The Haitian Minister of Agriculture and the Natural Resources for Rural Development (MARDNR), on Tuesday launched new services that will incorporate, Cloud Computing, technology, information and communication in the agriculture industry.

The cloud service  will provide the sector with a set of modern communication tools: email, video conferencing, chat and SMS. These tools will enable managers at the central offices and the decentralized structures around the nation to communicate more directly and more easily.

"This agreement between the Ministry for the Agriculture Department of Natural Resources and Rural Development (MARNDR) and Google is a very important step in modernizing the civil service in Haiti." said Joanas Gue , Minister of Agriculture.

"Cloud Computing " is to deport on remote servers for computer processing traditionally located on local servers.

"The MARNDR is now adopting the best tools for information management and communication. We continue to support this innovating vision of the Government which will allow the Ministry to render the Public Agricultural Services faster and effective" said Patrick Ramanantoanina, responsible for the operations of the World Bank.
