BOSTON, USA - You know you want to represent your flag but you want to do it fresh. We have a proud history and you have to put the heroes on deck. Haitian salute.
It occurred to me then, to talk to my friend Gandhi about being fresh in Haitian gear. And how he got in the business of making it possible with CARIBBEAN APPAREL™(/japopup}.
"While studying to get my JD/MBA I got tired of seeing my community wearing low quality apparel to represent their pride." Legrand Gandhi Lindor, on how he decided to develop original Caribbean apparel, at CARIBBEAN APPAREL™.
Gandhi took it back and reminded us how it used to be in the 90s before CARIBBEAN APPAREL™ launched in 2007. It was bad no matter where on the planet you live. To get some fresh Haitian gear, you would have to make it yourself. "I never saw a Haiti jacket but would see many other countries," he said. And so they decided to make one for Haiti.
The gear has to be fresh and represent, to which Gandhi said, "we do our designs in-house, with our graphic designer who puts our designs into reality. He has done animation work for a large design house based in California and has worked with companies such as Nike, Toyota, Sprite to name a few. He has worked on a commercial for Kobe Bryant."
"The message we try to get across is the history that is un-told in many respects of the Haitian culture along with many other countries."
Indeed the apparel has themes of the Haitian people, their past present and future. There is Toussaint and Dessalines, Martelly and Wyclef. You could also see CARIBBEAN APPAREL™ featured on music videos and some of the most random places.
Ayiti Suns of Nature Mecca AKA Grimo and Buggah D Govanah, on numerous recent videos of King Spyda's Haitian Rap Creole mixes, Carlo from CARIMI featured the jacket in their video "Trilogy". Gazzman and DISIP gets merchandise from them.
CARIBBEAN APPAREL&trade provides services of apparel, design and printing for others too. Any organization, company, group or individual can get something custom made. This a company with capacity, talent and well tuned distribution.
Lindor stays a busy man yet. He owns an office and practices law. He engages in the struggles of the Haitian people and shares in fellowship of cultural events from the Compas Festival in Miami, Parade in D.C. to the Kreyol Fest in Brooklyn. Get to know this businessman.
