Rapòte pa CBS Miami, the president’s office made the announcement Friday morning saying the operation was a success and that Martelly will be in the hospital for a couple of days.
President Martelly will spend Easter weekend out of the country and miss a protest, scheduled by popular groups and former military, that was to occur on April 7, the anniversary of the death of Toussaint Louverture.
Martelly left Haiti Wednesday for the operation, but the president’s office didn’t reveal the details about the trip until Friday morning.
It’s the second operation on his shoulders in recent months. Doctors operated on Martelly’s left shoulder in late October to relieve pain he said he had from his career as a musician.
Martelly will return to Haiti next week and will host a visit by Mexican president Felipe Calderon.
