Ayiti: Prezidan Martelly satisfè ak pwogrè nan Inivèsite Hospital, Mirebalais

MIREBALAIS, Haiti (defend.ht) - President Michel Martelly evaluated Wednesday with satisfaction the progress of construction of the University Hospital of Mirebalais during a visit of the Head of State to the metropolis of Bas Plateau Central.

The Haitian head of state was accompanied by the Minister of Public Health and Population, Mrs. Florence D. William, and Sen. Edmonde Supplice Beauzile (Centre/Alternative) of the Central Department. The officials congratulated Zanmi Lasante and other partners contributing to the achievement of such a project, a statement from the presidency said.

"The University Hospital of Mirebalais will accommodate over 500 patients a day with a total of 324 beds, about 20 consulting rooms in outpatient clinics, six operating rooms and a space to receive and train 140 students and medical residents," the statement said.

This modern hospital, which is owned by the Haitian State, is the result of a public / private partnership, the Minister said the Minister Florence D. William, stating that it will be managed jointly by Partners In Health / Zanmi Lasante (PIH / ZL) and the Ministry of Public Health and Population.

The presidential statement stresses that the University Hospital of Mirebalais' work on the principle of free health care and in strict compliance with the Minimum Package of Services".

President of the Republic who is renewing its commitment to provide health care services to the population, is "ready to initiate discussions with relevant authorities to consider a fund that could allow the construction of at least one center modern hospital in every department of the country during his tenure."

"Decentralization must be effective everywhere," the President remains convinced Martelly said in the statement of the Presidency.
