Ayiti: Prezidan Martelly Presents Dokiman vwayaj

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - In a press conference, President Michel Martelly presented eight Haitian passports for travel documents and was accompanied by the U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, Kenneth Merten, who said Michel Martelly is not a U.S. citizen.

In dramatic fashion the Head of State spoke before the press from the National Palace where he attempted to put an end to a four-month senate investigation into members of the government who hold foreign nationalities.

President Martelly presented the passports but no one was allowed to leave with the booklets. They were only presented to be seen by the press and religious officials.

U.S. Ambassador Kenneth Merten confirmed that President Michel Martelly was not a U.S. citizen but made no reference to the alias, Michael Martelly discovered weeks prior.

President Martelly had taken a stance to not cooperate with the senate investigation, even to directing his ministers to not comply with the parliamentary investigations.

With the resignation of Prime Minister Garry Conille, members of parliament put pressure on the Head of State to comply with the investigation before consultations towards ratifying a prime minister may begin.
