The Constitution should be published into the executive journal Le Moniteur shortly, after seven months being adopted by the 49th legislature in May. The office of the National Assembly must send it to the President no later than Friday the text to published.

The Minister of the Interior, Thierry Mayard-Paul, announced Wednesday that the publication of the text would be in a special issue of Le Moniteur and it would only be in a matter of hours.

Deputy President Jacinthe said that errors had crept into the new Constitution under the previous administration of Rene Préval, and the correction were entrusted to a commission composed of representatives of the Presidency, Parliament and civil society.

Sorel Jacinthe points out that the entry into force of the constitutional amendments will promote the establishment of the Permanent Electoral Council, whose first task will be organizing the next partial senatorial and local elections.

Without being specific, the parliamentary privileges that reported to benefit the President Martelly only giving the green light to the promulgation of the new Constitution which will take the signature of his predecessor, Rene Preval.

The National Network of Human Rights (RNDDH) has submitted to Parliament the full minutes of the meeting at which Senators and Deputies, meeting in the National Assembly, had made significant changes in the constitution of 1987 including on recognition of dual nationality, the permanent formation of the CEP and a greater representation of women in political life.

The new government had long refused to answer calls from various sectors in favor of enactment, officially due to severe hardware error or acts of deliberate falsification, which had distorted the original amendments.
