Ayiti: Yon lage laprès sou 2011-12 Eleksyon

Nan yon press note dated February 1, 2012, by the President of the Liberal Party of Haiti, Jean-Andre Victor recognized that the publication of the amended version of the Constitution has stalled, if it were published matters of setting up an electoral council would have been simplified by a Permanent Electoral Council (CEP).

The note by Victor than describes the alternative of establishing another Provisional Electoral Council which will require an amendment of the electoral law of July 9, 2008, which was voted after the establishment of the previous electoral council dated December 11, 2007.

But like many other concerned citizens the Liberal Party of Haiti is concerned about the proper functioning of national institutions for the benefit of all, and recommended in its press release, the following:

• the publication in the shortest time information specifying the nature of the Electoral Council, which will organize the next electoral contest in May 2012;
• the introduction of by the Senate of the Republic of the monitoring information of the conclusions of the report of Grand Body on the last elections organized by the Electoral Council headed by Mr. Gaillot Dorsainvil;
• the publication by the executive of a schedule of implementation of the electoral infrastructure including the date of the main steps of starting the Electoral Council, which will have to present, in turn, its own electoral calendar for the organization of elections in May 2012 probably at a new date ;
• the development by the executive of a political program which will aim to create conditions conducive to respect for elections, the strengthening of political institutions and the promotion of democracy in the country.
