Haiti: presidente do Senado, Insta Laurent Lamothe a Empreender "Consultas Máximos"

Senator Desras told the press of his private conversation with the designated prime minister on the topic of consultations, or negotiations with members of the senate.

“I suspect they are happening (consultations), they may be happening badly but I hope they are happening. Rather than happening on an institutional basis they are happening on the basis of connivance and friendship, that are not always good things…”

”Because I just told the prime minister designate three things…”

”When he shows himself to be very confident because there is a majority that will vote for him, he must anticipate the pressure in the session and who will vote for him.”

”Out of this majority how many of them will have the will to vote for him when the camera is fixated on them after the debate has taken a turn?”

”How many of them will be present in the session, that will stay in the session, when the senate is convocated will remain there?”

”How many of them will give one talk that is sweet and one that is sour in the same discourse?”

”How many of them will defend his cause no matter which way the debate turns?”

”All of these are questions he should ask…”

”And how many of them also in good weather and bad weather who will stick with him because they’ve given him a promise.”

”You can stand here now and they tell you that there won’t be rain… but you wait and wait and then rains invade Port-au-Prince.”

Asked if there maybe some matters in the case of Laurent Lamothe that could cause him problems, the President of the Senate said he would be misplaced to give a response to the question.

Senator Desras was also asked by a member of the legislative press core to react to the revelations made by Deputy Sorel Jacinthe (Moron/Inite) who said that President Michel Martelly, in the Summer of 2011, told parliamentarians in a private meeting at the National Palace that he could not designate Lamothe for Prime Minister because he had obtained citizenship in another country.

Desras said:

”This is a matter that is very important that I have not yet received information on. There have been rumors on this declaration [by the president] that Deputy Sorel Jacinthe had confirmed or informed or that Senator Joazile had confirmed or informed, this is a matter that is important for me here.”

”It is an element that can come and complicate the situation moreover. This is what I am trying to explain to you, there are things that are uncontrollable in these situations that make for the prime minister designate to do good by continuing his consulatations so that he can ensure that he has a majority and that this is a majority that will stay with him.”

Senator Desras has ensured that on Tuesday, April 10, the ratification session will be held and continues to urge the prime minister designate to work to ensure that he has a majority, guaranteed, that will vote for him in the senate.
