Martelly Incentiva o haitiano de imprensa a ser positiva

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - President Michel Martelly called a meeting with owners and representatives of the Haitian press at the National Palace on Saturday to harmonize relations between them and the executive.
Relatado pelo Haiti Imprensa Rede the President criticized media that maintains a negative perception of Haiti and asked that the Haitian press, "not to accompany him personally but to 'support the development of the country'."
"I do not ask you to carry me to the skies but to give positive news to reassure those on the outside and to trust those in Haiti, to longer maintain the flame of hope," he said.
The tenant of the National Palace also said he does not fear criticism. "Michel Martelly likes to talk about him for good or evil. This is me finally. But when you feed the doubt, the perception that nothing will, it is not advantageous to the country," he said.
"If you want to see more investment in Haiti, we must maintain this peace, this relative stability to attract investors in the country", he made clear by indexing some media critics of some of its actions, as the education fund, or his frequent trips.
Some directors of local radio responded saying that they release facts and truth, without swaying one way or the other. Another told the President it is international organizations and media that convey negative messages about Haiti in order to make their butter.
Members from the Haiti Press Network at the event said that overall the meeting was in good spirits with and even Patrick Moussignac of Radio Caraibe, said the meeting was appreciated.
A statement from the Office of the President reads:
President Martelly encourages the work of media criticism and invites them to work towards a climate conducive to investment and development of Haiti. He met with the directors and owners of the media, this Saturday, July 2, 2011, in his apartment at the National Palace. The Union is strength.
