“The sequestration is a precautionary measure that will allow the Chief of the Directorate General of Taxes (DGI) to interfere in the affairs of the HAITEL to evaluate its performance. Depending on the results, the DGI could prosecute those responsible for the bankruptcy. This measure will help protect state interests and those of creditors, employees and other shareholders are not affected by this bankruptcy. This decision gives the Haitian government the right to restart the HAITEL,” said Clark Neptune Jean-Baptiste.
