The Head of State made the announcement during an interview with members of the press.
Mayor of Port-au-Prince, Jean Yves Jason did not organize a carnival in his city for this year's carnival season because the city did not receive any funding for the event.
The presidency sait it would have been offensive to host a carnival in Port-au-Prince with the main artery, Champ de Mars, inhabited by tens of thousands of victims from the January 12, 2010 earthquake.
During the annoucement, President Martelly expressed satisfaction with the organization of the national carnival which was held in Les Cayes in 2012 rather than Port-au-Prince.
