The Commission's Chairman, Senator Youri Latortue, said that the meetings with the two officials, PNH's Mario Andrésol and the NNDHR's Yolaine Marie Gilles, were aimed at not only furthering the investigations into the electoral fraud but also to improve the nation's electoral process.
Mario Andrésol, Director General of PNH was called in to shed light on the violence that marred the elections for several days. "The clarifications Mr. Andrésol put to the commission provided some very good leads," Youri Latortue, Chairman of the Commission told the press.
Andrésol recalled that some officers who were found guilty of wrongdoing in the election days were apprehended.
Yolaine Marie Gilles was there to share with the members of the commission reports and recommendations produced by her human rights organization during the electoral process and to improve future elections.
More are expected to be heard on Thursday, the Minister of the Interior and Electoral Communities and other officials from organizations involved in the observation of the elections.
On Monday, the head of the Prosecutor's Office executed orders of detainment for all senior officials of CEP at the request of the Commission of Inquiry of the High Court. The commission believes it has enough evidence to formally issue charges.
