The book "l'Art français de la guerre" (French Art of War), was chosen by the jury of the Goncourt.
Haitian author and poet Lyonel Trouillot was one of four candidates to that prize with his recent novel "La belle amour humaine." He was very near of winning The Goncourt Award.
Haitian writers have already won many international prizes in the last years and recently. Haitian- Canadian novelist Dany Laferriere, who won Medecis Award in 2009 (another prestigious French literary award) believes that "in the next ten years, Haitian literature will be the most important of the Caribbean".
