Senator Desras confirmed receiving the passports from Religion for Peace, a non-denominational organization that was present at the display of documents at the National Palace on Thursday.
Desras said he "recognized the role of facilitator played by Religion for Peace", accepting the booklets on Friday morning.
On Thursday, the President of the Republic presented the passports at a National Palace press conference, where U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, Kenneth Merten, said that President Martelly was not a U.S. citizen.
The senate commission will analyze the documents of the president in an investigation that has already led to the resignation of three secretaries of state and determined two ministers to also be holders of foreign citizenship.
