Haitian Senate Reduced by a Third

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - On Tuesday, the Senate of the Republic of Haiti was reduced from 30 to 20 members as 10 senators saw their 6-year mandates come to an end.
Senators ending their terms were:
Youri Latortue (Artibonite / AAA)
Edmonde Supplice Beauzile (Centro / Alternativo)
Michel Clerie(Grand Anse/Alternative)
Nenel Cassy (Nippes / Inite)
Kely Bastien (Nord / Inite)
Jean Rodolphe Joazile (Nord-Est/Alternative)
Evaliere Beauplan (Nord-Ouest/PONT)
Jean Hector Anancacis (Ouest/Inite)
Yvon Buissereth (Sud / Inite)
and Joseph Lambert (Sud-Est/Inite)
The Constitution of Haiti requires that each of the 10 Departments are represented by 3 senators that are replaced every two years.
Elections have not yet been scheduled to return the senate to 30 members.
