PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht) - The lower house approved on Monday, through a power outage, the policy declaration of the new Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe.
70 deputies voted in favor, 6 were against and 3 abstained.
In his policy statement Lamothe spoke of his commitment to make Haiti an emerging country by 2030 according to Vision 2000.
Replacing the former Prime Minister Garry Conille Lamothe spoke about the "5 Es" often spoken of by President Michel Martelly. These are: the Rule of Law, Energy, Education, Environment and Economy/Employment.
"Under my government good governance will be a reality," said Lamothe, while affirming his commitment to fight against extreme poverty in the country.
"Our goal is to serve the Haitian people," added Lamothe who will also maintain the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
