PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (defend.ht)- Two ministers of Martelly’s cabinet were accused of sexual harassment or requesting sexual favors in exchange of job. Mr. Charles Levelt accused the Minister Ralph Theano and Nathalie Cardichon denounces the "misconduct" of the Culture minister Pierre Raymond Dumas.
Mr. Charles Levelt accused publicly the minister of public liaison with Parliament, Ralph Theano, for requesting from him homosexual favors for a job. During a popular political radio show broadcast on Scoop FM, Mr. Charles said the Minister Theano recommended him to sleep with him to get a job at the Foreign Ministry headed by Laurent Lamothe, the Prime minister designate.
"Mr. Theano told me personally that I would have already taken this position if I had slept with him, and with Clark Chevalier. I was very surprised, "said Levelt.
For her part, the section chief at the Ministry of Culture, Nathalie Cardichon, has in a letter published on Facebook Tuesday, May 1, denounced the maneuvers of Minister Pierre Raymond Dumas, to obtain sexual favors from her.
Ms. Cardichon wrote she had made this decision because of the dullness, the sexist and crude attempts by Dumas to obtain from her “favors the simple allusion of which offends the honor and dignity expected from a Minister.”
The former journalist also mentions in her letter the "misconduct" of Pierre Raymond Dumas, and "his abusive behavior toward other employees of the Culture Ministry."
"I cannot make a history lesson on the power in Haiti to the intellectual, analyst and keen observer that you are, but your megalomania and your intoxication of power seem to be more powerful than reason and self-control, than respect for others, "wrote Nathalie Cardichon to Mr. Dumas in her resignation letter.
