Se espera que los a votar en las segundo vuelta de las elecciones presidenciales y legislativo de Domingo Más de dos millones de ciudadanos, el Consejo Electoral Provisional (CEP) dijo Miércoles.
Philippe Augustin, who is in charge of electoral records at the CEP, said at a press conference that lists of the registered voters had already been distributed at voting centers across the island to ensure the vote can be carried out with the maximum attendance.
"The electoral lists have already been taken to the different regions, to ensure that the problems of the first round of elections won't be repeated," he said, adding that authorities hope this will double the participation of voters.
During the first round of elections on Nov. 28, just 20 of the registered people voted, a little more than 1 million, which according to Augustin was due to irregularities related to the election centers where a "large number" of people did not find their names on the lists.
Haitians will choose Haiti's new president in Sunday's run-off vote between former first lady Mirlande Manigat and popular singer Michel Martelly. They will also elect 77 deputies and seven senators to the national parliament.
