MIAMI, USA (defend.ht)-Asserting that the country's situation is "under control", the head of state, who announced his return next week, has reported a "slight complication" that followed his surgery in his first message to Haitians since hospitalization in the United States. Senator Bastien, a doctor by profession, said he doubts pulmonary embolism officially announced.
President Michel Martelly, who left Wednesday's Miami hospital where he was urgently admitted for a pulmonary embolism, announced that he would come out and be back in Port-au-Prince next week in a brief audio message broadcast in Creole during the evening by the National Television.
"Don’t worry, I will be restored," said the Head of State thanked the Haitian people for the many expressions of sympathy he received and the prayers that accompanied him since his hospitalization.
He says he was confronted with a "little complication" after surgery performed on the shoulder last week in Florida.
On the other hand, Martelly emphasizes that "the country is under control" and being informed of everything that passes through multiple daily communications with members of government, his own private room and the Director General of National Police, Mario Andresol.
For his part, Senator Kély Bastien, a doctor by profession, said he has serious reservations about pulmonary embolism officially announced and prefers to wait for Martelly’s medical diagnosis to be sure of the nature of his ailments. Serious heart problems, breathing and hypertension that would result from this disease would not have allowed the President to arrive in Miami without medical care, said Dr. Bastien.
