Los haitianos Win Álbum del Año en los Grammy

Superando a Eminem, Lady Antebellum, Lady Gaga y Katy Perry, Arcade Fire se llevó el álbum del año el domingo en los premios Grammy.

It was an incredible upset that prompted many tweeters to tweet things like "#Grammys who the heck are they" and other short messages along that line. The band that has been in the Canadian and European indie scene for years came up big upsetting their competitors.

Haitian Connection

For years, Arcade Fire has been a big supporter and repesenter of Haiti and Haitian causes, recording their hit song, Ayiti (Haiti). Little do people know that the bands founder and its lead singer, Régine Chassagne, is Haitian.

Chassange's parents escaped the brutal regime of François “Papa Doc” Duvalier and relocated to Montreal in the 1960s. She and her band mates have long been passionate advocates for Haiti long before last year’s earthquake that became the celebrity cause du jour (cause of the day).
