Ayikodans Returns to Miami with New World Premiere
- Tuesday, February 28, 2012 5:48 PM
MIAMI, USA (defend.ht) - In the summer of 2011, Ayikodans sold out the box office for several nights at the Adrienne Arsht in Miami. The Haitian dance company is returning for two days this May.
Tickets go on-sale to the public on March 5th at the Adrienne Arsht Center website.
It has been possible with the help of passionate Miami community leaders, Arsht Center CEO John Richard, Miami Herald World Editor, John Yearwood, WinGroup Director Youri Mevs and others, to bring AYIKODANS in 2011 and now in 2012 with a new piece that will see its world premiere on May 25 & 26.
In 2011, it was meant to be a single fundraising performance but it became a series of shows sold out every night with standing ovations and rave reviews.
A reviewer wrote: "The trouble of trying to find the next performance, of trying to get tickets and the half-hour of "self-congratualatory" introductions by the city - as described by an attendee - is worth it. Crowds can expect a treat of loud drums, expressive dance and intrigue when attending an Ayikodans performance."
Ayikodans is led by its Founder and Artistic Director Jeanguy Saintus, a world-renowned choreographer.
